The Best Android Games in 2020

By Pavel Kuharik

This year’s android games will not disappoint. With new mobile phones coming out each year and the fact that entry to mid level phones are powerful enough to run these games, it’s quite obvious why would big gaming companies produce a mobile game that already exists on other platforms or a unique game that is intended for android only.

Some of the games are upcoming, some exist in their early stages, but overall, the best android games in 2020 deserve to be recognized as many of these will probably be played in the years to come.

Dauntless

Originally conceived in 2017 in its alpha and beta version, it has been officially released in 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The game is a RPG fantasy game with monster hunt as its main element. It’s an online multiplayer game and it’s free to play with micro-transactions available.

What makes this game so great is the combat style and the level of complexity when fighting monster. Also, for all players who have already played games of this genre, there is crafting and leveling system, armor modifications and upgrades.

As for the mobile version on Android OS, the game developers have announced that they are in the process of making the game on Android and the release is scheduled in the last quarter of this year. Hopefully, the current situation in the world hasn’t hindered the developers’ progress.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Well known online battle arena that has found its way into hearts of millions of gamers worldwide has quite something special in store for all of you who would love to play LoL on the go.

Riot Games Inc. has officially announced that the game exists in its beta version with pre-register available for those who want to try it. The developers also promise that the characters from PC that players have gotten used to, will not be changed drastically and maybe even at all so that there’s some comfort in playing the game on mobile without the need to learn new things.

We hope that the devs will keep their promises. While the official date of release hasn’t been announced, the developers assure us that it will be this year.

Forza Street

From the well known games like Real Racing 3, Asphalt series, and Need for Speed, Forza is coming to mobile this year. As a racing game, it offers all the features that we love and want. Winning events, purchasing, upgrading, and modifying vehicles. From the looks of it, the graphics are unbelievably smooth and sharp.

While the official date hasn’t been mentioned yet, The gameplay, however, has been set to simplistic, casual racing where you control only the breaks and accelartion. The developers received many criticisms for their intent to create a racing game that takes out half of the fun and that is streering. But, if you’re a casual gamer that wants to focus on the progress of your cars and enjoys collecting and upgrading until  your car becomes the best possible version of itself, then be sure to pre-register and try out the beta version.

Apex Legends

Described as a new and improved Fortnite, the game quickly gained attention and spread like wildfire through the gaming world. The game was literally talked as one of the best android games in 2020 and one the most highly anticipated.

What separates it from the rest of battle-royale games is its smooth combat and all the fun ways to move and approach any situation. Officially released in February 2019, the game was intended for Windows, PS4, and Xbox, but the talk of mobile version was always on the table and the developers announced that this year will be the due date, somewhere in the last quarter of 2020, so either October or November.

However, with the current crisis in the world, it seems that the release may be further delayed as Respawn Entertainment and EA Games joined forces with chinese company, Tencent Holdings Ltd., so the issue therein is obvious. No matter how disappointing this may seem, we can honestly say that the game will be alive in less than a year. There is a talk about being able to play Apex Legends in its alpha stage right now. The only issue is that it’s difficult to find a reliable source to download the game. In many countries, this game may not show up on the Play Store. We recommend downloading at your own choice.

H1Z1

While not as popular as Fortnite, this battle-royale still has millions of fans and good availability on all three major platforms, Windows, PS4, and Xbox. Dropping from an airplane, collecting gear and weapons and surviving until you’re the last one to survive as the map is shrinking for better chances of finding your enemies is all what battle-royale is about.

The need to include this game and consider it as one of the best android games in 2020 has risen from its expectations on consoles and PCs where the game showed to be quite satisfying. The developers announced that sometimes this year they will release the trailer and after that the official game launch on mobile will be by the end of the year. Will it support a gamepad? Hopefully it will.

Project Cars GO

Widely famous racing game for its realistic driving, original car names and brands as well as tracks is coming to mobiles this year. The game has been released as Project Cars in 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PS4, and Xbox so it’s only natural that fans would want to see a mobile version as well. As it was with Apex Legends, there are sources claiming the game exists on mobiles already, but officials haven’t  posted it on Google PlayStore. The director of the Slightly Mad Studios, Ian Bell, said that we can expect the game this year for sure. But again, given the current situation that we are all in, one needs to ask if the director’s statement will be left unchanged. Also, the decision on whether the game will be free-to-play or paid hasn’t yet been given.

Plants vs Zombies 3

Many remember the original Plants vs Zombies coming out in 2009. The game was available for basically every platform at the time, even Blackberry, which was a highly popular mobile operating system at the time.

In 2013, the game has seen its release on iOS and Android and since then the original and its successor, Plants vs Zombies 2 have seen the popular trend on Google PlayStore. Last year, the developers officially announced that a third release is coming out and it is already available in its alpha stage on Google Play Store.

There are still bugs to be worked out and the official release is scheduled for this year. The game can be played but not all features have fully been developed. Despite that, the game was received positively by critics and players alike.

Diablo Immortal

Back in 2018, Blizzard Entertainment announced Diablo Immortal to come out on mobiles, but the release was unknown until recently. The fans of the franchise weren’t too happy when they first heard about the mobile version, but the game is available on pre-register on Google Play Store.

Diablo series is by far one of the most popular games made by Blizzard Entertainment and it put the company on the highest pedestal along with their Warcraft franchise.

Will Diablo Immortal be able to live up to the standards of the old titanic titles? Despite all the mess regarding Diablo fans vs Blizzard Entertainment, we felt the game deserves to be placed among the best android games in 2020 and we hope you agree with our choice as well as with the rest of the list.
